Father Hesburgh—who turned 96 years old in May—enrolled as a student at Notre Dame in 1934. For more than three-quarters of a century—as a student, a priest, a chaplain to veterans, a faculty member, an administrator, and as its president from 1952 until his retirement in 1987—Father Ted has witnessed firsthand the remarkable life, growth, and advancement of Our Lady’s University.
