Donor Stories and Legacies

A Word of Thanks

Dailey Scholar Jeremy Dancu ’15, whose identical twin brother also attends Notre Dame, is a junior finance major from Chicago. This summer, he will intern with a top investment bank.

“When I think back to the moment I received my admissions letter from Notre Dame, I distinctly remember having mixed emotions. Despite my excitement, I knew my family would have three kids in college at the same time, and I desperately feared that we would not have the resources to make my Notre Dame education possible.

“As I reflect on my education and experiences at the University, I return again and again to the immense generosity and selflessness of Ms. Florence Dailey. Because of her gift through her will, I have benefited from both the opportunity to join the Notre Dame family and to develop within a uniquely challenging, inspirational, and spiritual environment.

“Whether in my classes or through organizations such as the Student International Business Council, my education has broadened my horizons and given me invaluable access to professional opportunities. Alongside my passion for finance, I have explored new subject areas and interests through classes, service opportunities, and extracurriculars. And as lectures, midterms, and soon, final exams wind down, I know that I will confidently walk away from this campus having grown in my ability to think critically and passionately about important issues and sensitive topics.

“Most important, my Notre Dame education—and Ms. Dailey’s gift—have given me the platform to explore my intellectual curiosity while fostering values that will serve me well throughout my life. I am so thankful for this transformational experience, which has made me a better individual and a better member of my community.”
